stonework and masonry is an ancient art and technique that will add value and beauty to your home. these services consist of outdoor projects such as pizza ovens, built in grills, patio’s , residential landscaping, walkway’s , fire pit’s, fireplace’s, seating wall’s, stone picnic tables & bench’s, inlaid compass rose’s, bird bath’s. etc . A mason can deal with almost everything from some of the plainer simpler thing’s listed above to more complex application’s such as stairway’s to water garden’s and water feature’s, stonescaping and rock garden’s…. more next time

I have had a kid calling me for the past year showing incentive saying he wants to be a stone mason and for me to train him. we have alot of projects going on right now, stonewalls, chimneys, fireplaces, patio’s,retaining walls, so i decided i would give an inexperienced guy a chance, So as most mason’s start, he is moving rock/stone by hand , go figure he thinks it’s a dumb idea??? . I had to explain in order to be a good mason you first need to be a good laborer and there is reason’s for that #1 you have to prove yourself #2 you have to decide this is what you want #3 start learning the stone, i have good brick masons, stone masons, tile masons, concrete masons, you get to learn from every one, so start by moving 20 ton of stone. I have been doing masonry in Connecticut for a long time, I’ve had my fill of moving stone, rocks. loading dump trucks by hand, moving 500 pound stones by myself. there is 4 ways to move stone by hand less back breaking #1 with pipes rolling stone over the top #2 with sturdy handcart #3 on sled/toboggan #4on tire sled all are handy when machine is not possible. so if he or you choose to pursue the craft of stone work, you have essentially two options #1 learn on your own with many pitfalls and ugly work, which is better for me. #2 learn from others. an apprenticeship isis still best, unless you’re the kind who won’t listen and take direction. in that case you need to get yourself elected president or something. he did well first day.

Our latest job was for the Chamber of Commerce and the city of Willimantic, I received a call on Wednesday night and was asked if i would like to do some community service. (This is a good idea) to give back a little of the stuff i have received and we got alot of compliments and recognition.

Thursday morning i met with the directors of the Willimatic Chamber of Commerce and I brought my guys over friday morning. Challenged beyond what i thought was going to be tough with only one day to complete, we gave it our all. 10 tons of stone across the street (what). All of a sudden a guy on a Backhoe shows up and digs for our base, then brings stone over, the police came and watched the traffic, the town cam and helped, and the state got us signs. The cooperation was unbelievable. It was a great feeling, all cars stopping and saying what a great job. Bringing us water etc…

Town Pride Town Wide was a success. The greatest part was watching every one come together and complete it, Saturday more people came and put dirt and flowers which were donated, students from colleges Eastern and Uconn. It was one of my best achievements giving of myself and my trade. Thanks for your time.

I am the owner of Majestic Masonry llc . Todays blog we will talk about today’s economy and craftsmanship. I’m seeing alot of Ct people investing in home masonry project’s, stone patio’s, stonewalls, outside fireplaces, brick patio’s, bluestone sidewalks & patio’s. There investing in there properties instead of vacationing, ( not that vacations are a bad idea ) because there not. It’s your investment ! having friends and family over enjoying your new seasonal outdoor barbecues , brick pizza oven, built in brick or stone gas or charcoal grill’s a stonehenge of your own. Your investment’s will bring you long lasting Joy and Happiness not to mention increasing your property value. I will reiterate we are a masonry company that care’s. economy/craftsmanship, there are alot of companie’s price gouging ,non licensed, no insurance, etc. We do alot of repairs on other mason’s work not even a year old. I used to buy second hand stuff and it would break, wear out, or just be bad, i thought i was getting a good deal (wrong) my girlfriend taught me that valuable lesson, I now buy new and the best and save money (no brainer). you are on my website/blog for a reason and making right decision’s and right path to craftsmanship. looking forward to your call’s… larry

My name is Larry Walsh. Im new to this computer stuff Im not new to stone, brick, and block or any type of masonry out there. We are a Connecticut based company, but not limited to CT. I have 30 plus years in the masonry trade and concrete.

At an early age I went to work with my dad and learned Concrete Foundations, I used to watch the masons and it intrigued me. Im obsessed with stone, stone walls, and stone veneers. I drive down the road looking at stone walls.

We do a lot of brick chimneys new and old, buildings, repointing, flashing crowns and caps. I was the last mason on Gillette’s Castle. We do patios, walkways, pizza ovens, outside fireplaces, and grills.

We are a company that cares. We go above and beyond to meet codes and high standards and your expectations. This is my first blog, I will be on weekly and i will also be giving classes on stonewalling, cutting and proper procedures for building stone walls.
